I never ever buy a vehicle on my first visit I tell them I have to go home and pray on it and still talk to other dealerships to see if they can give me what I want to pay and that are getting back to me another thing is don't let them fool you with add ons like fabric protector and paint protector all it is just some wax and scotch guard another thing is they tried this on my friend he wanted them to lower the price because he only wanted to pay so much a month so they said will drop the price but what they did they add a month truck note well he went to signing he catch it and walked out and found a better deal they called them two days later and said sir we will drop the price he said sorry I already bought a truck that's what you guys get for being sneaky.
Firstly my life story for the beginning .... Originally from Europe but due to new job moved to middle east and realized some nice four wheel drive car is a must here. For off-road capability and also for a safety as many drivers are from countries where traffic code is let say... ... not strict as we understand. So no way to have BMW convertible (my first idea) as my head in this car is exactly in same height as Land Cruiser bumper.
So I tried many cars and never really focused on full size pick-up trucks as we in Europe we do not use them. Anyway when I was at Dodge-Jeep-Chrysler dealership to see a Jeep Grand Cherokee I jumped just for fun in to Ram 1500 truck and immediately realized the cabin is really nice looking, seat comfortable and overall feeling is perfect. Nice dash, lot of storage areas, Ram boxes... So...
I realized I need to ask some specialist the Americans ! Guys I don't know anything about US trucks you have to tell me couple things and teach me a little bit in US pickup trucks..
Look what I don't understand why Ford 150 is the best selling truck. Went to FORD dealer to see F150 and not really amazed. Outside is OK, but interior looks cheap, plastic no special gadgets and also is more expensive with just V6 engine. So tell me where is the F150's secret?
Booked for Dodge Ram drive test and the car is just a good car. Hemi 5.7 with almost 400hp, great ride quality and I was surprised how good is also handling just like a modern SUV than a truck. And for less price then F150
So guys the question is... Shall I buy this truck? Is Ram a good truck for desert environment?
Is Ford really much better? And what about other brands like Chevy or GMC?

Google dodge truck issues on the year your looking at. Have read alot have had issues with dodges. One guy had a 14 model and said it was junk always messing up went with a 15 model same deal alot of issues. A coworker has a new dodge with in 6 months it spent a week in the shop for a check engine light they ended up putting a new fuel line and a new tank on it on a brand new 6 month old truck.
Honestly for me ford is a no go I won't ever own a ford even my dad said they are cheap looking all plastic when sit inside of them. And any vehicle is going to be hit and miss with issues all manufactures have there days.
I did lot of googling and youtubing to find as much as possible info about the trucks and generally experience with last generation of RAMs (2013 onwards) is quite positive. Also if I am correct the RAM is only full size pickup truck with a coil spring suspension which is important as in my case the car is about lifestyle not for work. The bad thing what I found is a crash test result - marginal. I expected little bit more from a full size truck. "A" pillar and cabin collapse is what I did not seen in Europe for long years. Ford did much better in frontal crash test.
Need to explain how works 4x4 system on Dodge RAM... There is no rear diff lock but LSD. Is LSD also on front axle? If I switch to 4WD lock can I drive the car for long distance with higher speed on unpaved loose surface (dirt road, sand, gravel) without risk to damage centre differential?
SLT trim goes with 2WD, 4WD Lock and 4WD lock Lo modes
Laramie goes with 2WD, 4WD auto, 4WD lock and 4WD lock lo modes
Is better to have 4WD auto (much more expensive for Laramie trim) or 2WD and 4WD lock is enough?
