does anyone knows which years and model dodge trucks use a vacum operated front straight axle comparable to the rear axle of a zr2 as far as width.

I think rams from 1985 to 1993 bring a straight axle vacuum operated differential; so I've been told. I just dont know about the width from tire to tire. I'll do some research; perhaps a trip to the junk jard.

I remember a friend had a Dodge Ram, I do not remember the year. It had some kind of an automatic locking hubs on the front. I do not know if the front end was engaged with vacuum. I don't think it was though, I am thinking that the T~Case, when it was engaged that the hubs would lock in from the spinning of the axles. I remember that He would have to disengage the T~Case then back up for about five to ten foot to disengage the hubs. Sometimes one hub would disengage and not the other, it would make a ratcheting noise and then he`d have to back up some more to get the other hub to unlock.
