would an air leak there cause warm start problem but not cold start ?
Could be since its righ ton top the engine so it pulls warm air in, remember a engine runs better on cooler denser air, smoother makes better power. ALways wonder why in winter your engines seems to run better, its that colder denser air, my truck loved the winter air once it got started, it loved pulling in that cold air run like a rape.d ape on steroids. In the summer it struggles pulling hot air, where you pinging or preignition happens alot from the heat of motor plus summer heat adds on to it.
hummm, well ill give the cts a shot, yea i know these votecs are good for cracks on intake, but it would idle high if it had a vaccume leak, now occasionaly it will jump to high rpms sometimes it dont take long to go back down to normal, other times it stays like 2500 --3000 for a spell then goes back to normal and stays there.. and 5speed, u dont run autolite **** in a gm or anything far as im concerned. unless of course youre a ford man.. junk vehical runs junk plugs.
If there is a crack at the base of the intake, the truck will probably run rough. My rig won’t really run at all if my intake is removed. If it’s just sitting on it half a$$ed it runs really rough.
My buddy used his scanner and figured out what cylinder was missing on my truck. It was missing but not enough to throw a code. I reseated the sparkplug boot on that cylinder and it made it less noticeable.
might try a quart of seafoam in next tank of gas....dirty injector will do it too
