    Hi TruckForum
I ran into some mechanical problems. So I've been doing alot of lurking here for info.
This is my first post here. So heres my situation.
I purchased a Chevy Silverado 4x4 extended cab with a 5.0L engine and automatic transmission.
I need to do a low budget Junkyard purchase for the transmission. My lifes budget is very limited.
I found the following list of compatible vehicles to pull from:
    CHEVROLET 1500 PICKUP 1996 - 1997 A.T.; 4x4, 4L60E, 8-305 (5.0L)
    CHEVROLET 1500 PICKUP 1996 - 1997 A.T.; 4x4, 4L60E, 8-350 (5.7L)
    GMC 1500 PICKUP 1996 - 1997 A.T.; 4x4, 4L60E (opt M30), 8-305 (5.0L)
    GMC 1500 PICKUP 1996 - 1997 A.T.; 4x4, 4L60E (opt M30), 8-350 (5.7L)
    SUBURBAN 1500 1996 - 1997 A.T.; 4x4, 4L60E (opt M30)
    SUBURBAN 2500 1996 - 1997 A.T.; 4x4, 4L60E (opt M30)
    TAHOE 1996 - 1997 A.T.; 4x4, 4L60E (opt M30)
    YUKON 1996 - 1997 A.T.; 4x4, 4L60E (opt M30)
Are these the only vehicles that I am limited to looking for?
    What does opt M30 mean?
Is their a thread or page with "How To" for searching a junkyard?
Thank You for taking the time to look my post over. If Theres anything else i need to add. please let me know.
Even at my budget. I will not fail!

You should be able to find any 4x4 4l60e tranny from 88-98 exlcuding think 95 they were year specific. So what ever vehicle you find has a 4l60e that was 4x4 should work, don't matter what motor is was on from the v6 to the 5.7 were all same blocks just bored different, one of the other guys should chime.

No problem I am sure other years will fit as long as its a 4l60e from a 4x4 vehicle.

What you have listed will be the best for you . Will not have to change parts shift solenoids wiring ect.
    93 was first year for 4l60e 94 will work on 93 . 95 was pre obd11 almost obd11 year specific. 87 to 92 was 700r4.
The m30 is a rpo code just stating this truck has a 4l60e/4speed automatic.

Just something to think about, For about 1/3 of a rebuilt you can get a used trans that you have no idea of how well it was maintained. I would seek out a rebuilt trans. Just my 2 cents.
