So DON'T change Trans Fluid????? This was something I was planning on doing.
Maybe, maybe not.....Either way, its probably a crap shoot....sounds like the tranny is on its way out.
When I bought my truck, I was getting a code for component slippage, whatever that means. Checked the fluid and it was brownish and was overfilled. The fluid was foaming due to being overfilled. We drained the pan, put a filter and new fluid to refil, so I guess it was 1/2 and 1/2 old and new fluid. Also added a small bottle of Lucas Trans Fix......It's been good ever since (45,000 miles).....Knock on wood
Might want to try some Lucas, can't hurt......
Tell ya what I do not only to mine but others cars. I NEVER drain all the fluid just drop the pan and whatever comes out replace only that and the filter in the transmission. I haven’t had one blow yet. Your not gonna need anywhere near a full flush amount of fluid that way either.
@Pallet Pete that's about all I would have (or ever done.) Thanks Bud!
Its just what I have heard, and have others said they never changed theirs and then changed the tranny puked. But like was said could have already been on the way out. My truck since I have had mine rebuilt has never been changed but it don't ge driven much, is drive hard or tow anything I just drive it and have it when I do need to haul something but most times its in the bed, plus leaks from somewhere so its got a constant fresh supply of fluid going into it.
tap the brake pedal before accelerating again, had a similar issue and mine was the torque converter didnt want to come out of lockup,
